Balltze is a modding platform for Halo Custom Edition. It has two parts:
- Ringworld, an engine layer that runs inside the game and takes over its engine from within, keeping the original behavior so maps, tags and multiplayer keep working as they always did. Working from inside the engine, it fixes bugs that could only be patched from the outside before, and extends the game: higher frame rates, larger limits, a reworked HUD and settings menu, restored Xbox features and new tag fields for map creators.
- Plugins, written in Lua, which get access to the engine: events, console commands, tags, objects, players, the user interface and network messages between the server and its players.
Warning
Balltze is still in development and may contain bugs or incomplete features, and the plugin API may change before release. If you find any issues, please report them in the Discord server.
Where to start¶
- Players: install it, then look at the new video settings and the chat.
- Server operators: see the dedicated server page.
- Map creators: see the tag extensions, loading maps from tags and ringtool.
- Plugin authors: read the introduction, then create your first plugin.

- Lua-blam - The first library that dealt with the manipulation of tag structures.
- Invader - Free and open source toolkit for Halo: Combat Evolved for creating maps and assets.
- LeviLamina - A lightweight, modular and versatile mod loader for Minecraft Bedrock Server which inspired the development of this mod as well.
