HUD meters¶
HUD meters, such as the health, shield and ammo bars, are drawn from a meter bitmap whose channels play two roles: one holds the gradient that the meter fills along, and the other the shape and brightness of the meter. The PC port and the original Xbox release store them in opposite channels, so meter bitmaps made for the Xbox did not work on PC.
The use xbox shading meter flag reads the meter bitmap with its channels swapped, the way the
Xbox does: the gradient comes from the red channel and the shape from the alpha channel. Meters
without the flag are drawn like in the stock PC game.
The flag is in the meter elements of the unit_hud_interface, weapon_hud_interface and
grenade_hud_interface tags.
Note
The use xbox shading flag does not exist in the stock editing kit. Use invader-edit from
Invader to set it.
