Shader model extended¶
shader_model_extended is a new tag group (group code sose) for model shaders. It extends
shader_model, so it has every field of a regular model shader plus normal mapping, a second
detail map and specular maps. Objects reference it anywhere a shader_model can be used.
Where the extension is turned off, the shader draws as a plain shader_model, using only its
shader_model fields.
The extension needs Ringworld's shaders in the effect collection and vertex shader files. See Installation.
Fields¶
Second detail map¶
A second detail map, blended like the base detail map.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| detail 2 function | How the second detail map is combined, like the detail function of shader_model. |
| detail 2 mask | Channel of the multipurpose map that masks it. White applies the detail fully, gray fades it. |
| detail 2 map | The bitmap. |
| detail 2 map scale | Tiling. |
| detail 2 map v-scale | Extra vertical tiling on top of the scale. |
Bump properties¶
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| base normal map | Tangent space normal map in RGB. Its alpha picks the detail normal map: 0 for none, 85 for detail normal 1, 170 for detail normal 2, blending in between. |
| base normal coefficient | Strength of the base normal map. |
| detail normal 1 map, coefficient, scale, v-scale | First detail normal map, its strength and its tiling. |
| detail normal 2 map, coefficient, scale, v-scale | Second detail normal map. Only used when a base normal map and detail normal 1 are set. |
Specular properties¶
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| specular color map | Tints the specular highlights per pixel with its RGB. The cube map reflection is not tinted. |
| specular color coefficient, exponent | Strength and exponent of the specular color map. |
alpha as exponent mask flag |
The alpha of the specular color map masks the specular lighting exponent. |
| specular lighting exponent | Sharpness of the specular highlight. 0 turns specular lighting off. |
| specular lighting coefficient | Strength of the specular highlight. |
Note
Scales and coefficients are used as they are: a value of 0 gives no tiling or no strength. Set them to 1 for the neutral value.
Commands¶
balltze_set_model_shader_extension¶
Syntax: balltze_set_model_shader_extension <setting: boolean>
Turns the extension on or off. With it off, shader_model_extended tags draw as plain model
shaders, which helps to compare the two. The setting is not saved. This command is provided by
Balltze.
